Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age and have a HS Diploma or equivalent. Must have a working knowledge of shipping regulations, material handling procedures and knowledge of all products manufactured by the Fire Protection Unit. Must be able to read and complete shipping orders and bills of lading. A basic knowledge of arithmetic is needed in order to work with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division when completing daily tasks. Considerable clerical detail involved in maintaining SAP. Must be able to learn/comprehend and meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. Forklift license is needed.

DUTIES

  • Following shipping/receiving orders, checks, counts, weighs, and packs product in accordance with specifications for shipment via UPS, parcel post, air freight or motor carrier. Enters data through the bar code system.
  • Loads and unloads material using a forklift truck. Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the mini locator system by following correct MRP/COP procedures.
  • Works with carriers to verify quantity, type, and proper load distribution of product being shipped.
  • Operates a truck for transporting material and products between warehouses and other company locations when necessary.
  • Performs minor maintenance on trucks and performs maintenance and safety checks on forklifts and fills out record sheets. When necessary, fills LP gas tanks.
  • Following verbal instructions and using own independent judgment, transports with a lift truck supplies and finished materials by visually checking load or weigh counting.
  • Record data on material completion, CNS removal, or transfer tickets with the use of a scanner or other means. Verifies the correct counts and part numbers. Resolves SAP transaction issues with incoming /outgoing product.
  • Loads and unloads trucks by hand or with a forklift. Verifies count, type and condition of material received from fabrication or trucking firms.
  • Report type and quantity of damaged material received for items shipped directly to assembly area. Notates damage on receiving slips for material control,and completes a shortage / damage report.
  • Receives in-coming materials, parts and supplies from outside vendors. Must verify quantity on packing slip. Uses bar code scanner and printer to properly receive, identify and distribute to appropriate storage location. Must be knowledgeable of the safety procedures for handling hazardous substances such as acids and caustics.
  • Issues parts and supplies from cribs as needed and fills out proper forms. Visually counts or weigh counts material.
  • Assist in annual inventory in warehouses and other factory locations.
  • Maintains housekeeping and orderliness in assigned areas, performs and completes the 5's assignments.
  • Works with supervisor to determine the most efficient method of material storage.
  • Must know the proper methods in loading and unloading semi-trailers and vans to minimize damage.
  • Responsible to ensure that all material is received and put away with in a 24-hour window. Complete Immediate Response Required (IRR) forms and correct within 24 hours. Assist Accounting for copies of receivers, checking on product not received but invoiced, copies of packing slips and variance differences.
  • Run FP/Replen Report (ZMMSP) daily for B29 and B36. Prepare spreadsheet, sort by production area and distribute to appropriate person. If needed pick the parts for the day.
  • Prepare subcontracting shortage report (ZME20) daily.
  • Assists in performing inventory audits, cycle counts, reconciliation and physical inventory. Completes necessary paperwork.
  • Assists in pulling parts for B112.
  • Handle all Straight Shot requests for immediate pack and ship.
  • Check crib stock on hand and locations of Kan Ban parts and Kan Ban cartons to ensure Kan Ban parts are kept in the pre-labeled Kan Ban areas and not stored elsewhere, sending overstock to KK Warehouse.
  • Work closely with associates on suggested SLOC changes and Item Master Change Requests.
  • Orders materials for the receiving departments as needed to assist with performance of their job.
  • Maintains housekeeping and orderliness in assigned area. Performs and completes 5's assignments and records.
  • Works with Supervisor to determine the most efficient method of material storage.
  • Act as a backup to receive non inventory items and distribute to appropriate locations.
  • Act as backup for B36 Receiving when needed
  • Supporting the training and development of peers within the organization.
