Manager, Regeneration Projects
About the role
Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.
In November 2021 a Joint Venture Agreement was developed between Rio Tinto and RESOLVE (a Washington DC Based NGO) to establish Regeneration Enterprises a start-up that creates biodiversity, community, and climate positive minerals for the energy transition, green tech, and sustainable brands through remining, reprocessing, and restoration (www.regeneration.enterprises).
Rio Tinto took the position as founding partner and catalytic funder in Regeneration to enable the development of an alternative financial structure to support remediation at legacy and closed sites in the portfolio. Specifically, to do so in a way that combines remining of any unconventional orebodies (residual ore below RT cut off grades, tailings, waste rock piles and/or wastewater) with site closure and restoration, drawing finance from alternative sources including green capital, and linking to consumer facing brands willing to pay a price premium for 'green' metals.
The Manager, Regeneration Projects will be responsible for supporting the effective delivery of Regeneration projects at Rio Tinto assets and closure sites, as well as other sites as designated by Rio Tinto from time to time. The role will also be responsible for being the key relationship manager between the Rio Tinto and Regeneration Enterprises teams, including supporting the Rio Tinto member and observer on the Regeneration Board as required.
The role will report to the GM Strategy and Optimization in Closure, with a dotted reporting line to the Chief Operating Officer in Regeneration Enterprises.
