The Avionics Install - Technical Representative I serves as avionics systems technical advisor in supporting internal and external customers with technical services, troubleshooting, pre-delivery training and customer service issues. This position supports the Sales and Engineering departments in preparing quotes and researching and resolving avionics systems integration issues. The representative works with the Professional Development Team to develop and deliver technical training; prepares briefs and updates Engineering Knowledge Database as necessary; and leads and/or participates with special projects as assigned

Essential Job Functions

  1. Provides technical advice and troubleshooting assistance to Company team members, customers and manufacturers for avionics installations and system operations. Coordinates with Engineering, manufacturers, management and shop team members to recommend and resolves customers' warranty issues. Updates Engineering Knowledge Database for future reference.
  1. Supports Sales team with quotes and sales proposals by providing technical guidance for avionics systems capabilities and integration issues. Promotes products and services to customers by identifying and recommending products and services. Participates in re-engineering solutions during troubleshooting, turn-on and delivery processes.
  1. Recommends and initiates measures to improve quality, procedures, efficiency and working conditions. Identifies, researches and recommends avionics tooling and equipment needs. Develops and fosters relationships with OEM technical representatives.
  1. Assists Professional Development Team with developing and conducting technical training for internal and external customers. Provides avionics systems OJT to technicians and familiarization training to customers. Writes technical briefs regularly.
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements

  • Licenses/Certificates: FAA Repairman Certificate; Qualified Inspector designation; valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required, after hours availability
  • Physical: Routinely lifts 50 lbs.; reads small print; identifies colors; works in confined spaces; works in heights above four feet; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting; proficient typing and data entry skills
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in avionics, electronics or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum six years related general aviation avionics installations and modifications experience required
