Summary:

The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams primarily serving mining clients. This person will assist with civil engineering design and analysis related to site layout, grading and drainage, mass earthwork, etc.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing proposals and cost estimates

  • Managing civil projects from concept to construction

  • Preparing technical reports

  • Providing support through training/mentorship for other engineers

  • This position requires periodic, out of town assignments

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering

  • 10 or more years of related work experience

  • Professional engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain certification within one year

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Civil 3D, and computer simulation modeling

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

  • Willingness to work in a project team environment that encourages self-initiative and cross-office collaboration

  • Proven project management experience

  • Flexible working style as required to meet project deadlines and/or client needs

  • Possession of valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in consulting engineering

  • Strong relationships with clients and the ability to develop or foster ongoing relationships and maintain a high level of client service

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position will be based out of Barr's Salt Lake City, Utah, office.

NOTE: Some work locations will feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment. Safety training will be provided prior to being given work assignments on these sites. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
